Elementary school

Kids from 5 to 11 years old.

Flag selects teachers that are capable of operating in teamwork: every class has at least a group of six teachers that operate with authority and autonomy, they work in team between them, allowing the kids to feel like in a little gym in which everyone can experiment and discover different subjects with the opportunity of talking about it with different interlocutors.

All the teachers follow a continuous training; their personal skills are integrated towards the methodological choice of the school. Being an officially recognized school, we respect the educational indicators of our system, but we go far beyond.

In order to reach a balance between the two languages, Italian and English, we consider fundamental that a lot of subjects are done in English: music, drama, art, computer science and physical education; other subjects are done in parallel in the two languages: mathematics since the 1st grade, from 3rd grade science and from 4th grade also history and geography, strengthening the English hours and enriching the Italian programme.

Every year the students do at least two experiences abroad or using the language they study, in order to live different international experiences that are very useful from a didactical and social point of view.

On our national territory we are the only school inspired by Adler, unlike the schools in Germany, France, Austria, and America where there are schools inspired by the same educational principals since they exist in a more open-minded towards sperimentation and creativity school systems, unlike the Italian one.

One of our most unique characteristics is the subject prosociality, recently called the “hour to think”; it is managed by a skilled teacher and psychologist, this hour wants to allow the kids to obtain a higher capacity in dealing with their emotions.

In line with the Adlerian principals, the school doesn’t use the classic “note” on the dairy regarding the student’s behaviour. The “thinking room” is a space without judgement but of reflection, it is always open for the kids; it helps them build the capacity of dealing with different events and developing a sense of responsibility through respectful dialogue of the emotions of every kid.

Recognizing the emotions we feel, knowing how to legitimize them and giving them a name are all elements that are important in order to grow and develop emphatic skills, that are fundamental in order to socialize in an efficient way.

How does it work.

The service at school is structured in the following way:

  • Fulltime: from Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm
  • The first bell rings at 8:40am and the lessons start at 8:45am
  • On request: pre and post school. It is possible to enter at 7:30am and stay until 6:30pm.
  • Lunchtime: the kids eat at school with their teachers. It is possible to follow different diets for certified motivations.
